The programs at Cedar Springs Austin are specially designed to provide individualized levels of support and structure—all conducted in a confidential, healing environment by professionals skilled in eating disorders. Within each treatment program, our team develops personalized plans to address patients’ goals, objectives and outcomes.
Our program offers three levels of care: 10- hour Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP); 6-hour Partial Hospitalization Program; and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Part of your assessment process at Cedars Springs Austin will be to determine the level of care based on your symptoms, including height and weight, frequency of eating disorder symptoms, co-occurring medical problems, response to past treatment, and other psychiatric problems. Because of our continuum of care, we have the ability the step people up or down in terms of intensity depending on their clinical needs and treatment progress. Determining the correct level of care is essential in treating eating disorders. Effective treatment reduces the chances of someone developing a chronic illness and the likelihood of developing other medical conditions, such as anxiety, depression and substance. Our intensive treatment program is aimed to optimize recovery that occurs in a community setting and offers an effective alternative to lengthy inpatient or residential treatment stays.
Day Treatment in either our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers patients the intensity and safety of residential care without overnight stays. It is also provides the appropriate transition for those who have been discharged from either residential or hospital treatment.

Male Eating Disorders
Recent research shows that 25% of those with anorexia and bulimia and 40% of those with binge eating disorder are male. To address the growing number of male eating disorders, our IOP provides groups for men. These groups, led by Brad Kennington, LMFT, LPC, our executive director who also specializes in the treatment of male eating disorders, allow guys an opportunity to openly discuss the unique challenges they face as a result of their eating disorder and body image issues.
